Provincial Parks & Protected Areas

Spend quality time in Alberta's Provincial Parks and Recreation areas.

There are more than 500 sites covering 27,525 square kilometers in Alberta's parks and protected areas network. These preserve important ecological areas and provide places where people can enjoy and learn about Alberta's priceless natural heritage.

Cooking Lake/Blackfoot and Kananaskis are known for their extensive cross country skiing trails.  Downhill skiers will enjoy the slopes at Cypress Hills Provincial Park and at Nakiska in Kananaskis Country.
