Point Backcountry Camping, Peter Lougheed Provincial Park

Point Backcountry Campground is in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, 50 km south of Hwy. 1 on Hwy 40 and south on Kananaskis Lakes Trail. The closest access is at North Interlakes Day Use. It is 3.4 km from the trailhead via Upper Kananaskis Lake Circuit. It can also be accessed by boat, but there are no docking or mooring facilities so light watercraft can be pulled up on shore. Enjoy beautiful lake and mountain views at this scenic site. Tent sites are scattered amongst the forest at the lake`s edge. There are firepits and firewood, pit/vault toilets, and secure food storage lockers here.

It`s a great spot for watching water birds and other wildlife, or taking a hike along the forested shoreline.<br>. Rocky Mountain House
Prairie Creek Campground is found in Prairie Creek Provincial Recreation Area, 41 km southwest of Rocky Mountain House on Hwy. 752. A good fishing creek runs through the campground. There are about 50 well treed sites, with a few next to the creek.<br>This is an unserviced campground. Please remember to bring your own firewood to enjoy your stay.Recent changes to the recreation area regulation under the Public Health Act have affected provision of drinking water in this campground – we cannot absolutely guarantee that water from hand pumps is free of pathogens because of the risk of ground wat

Queen Elizabeth Campground, Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park

Queen Elizabeth Campground is found along the shores of Lac Cardinal, in Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park. It is 3 km north and 5 km west of Grimshaw off Hwy. 35. There are over 50 campsites tucked into the forest along the lakeside, including some with power. Enjoy the beach, swimming, and boating activities. Take a hike or go mountain biking along shady boreal forest trails. The shallow lake is also a great place for birdwatching.<br>Eighteen of the power sites have 20 amp breakers; 20 of the power sites have 15 amp breakers. This is a self-registration campground. Payment can be made by cash











Racehorse Campground, Racehorse Provincial Recreation Area

Camp in the southern Rockies in Racehorse Provincial Recreation Area, 25 km north of Crowsnest on Forestry Trunk Road. Sites are suitable for RVs and tents and are surrounded by open pine forest. Racehorse Creek runs alonside the campground. Go fishing in the creek or hiking on informal trails. Registered campers may off-load and use access roads to travel to nearby OHV trails from their campsites.<br>Opening dates are subject to weather conditions. Ram Falls campground is found in Ram Falls Provincial Park, 64 km south of Nordegg on Hwy. 743. There are over 50 sites at this hidden jem. A viewing platform just a short walk from the campground provides breathtaking views of the Ram River Valley and the scenic Ram Falls. This small campground is found in Red Deer River Provincial Recreation Area, 60 km southwest of Sundre on Forestry Trunk Road (Hwy. 734). Sites are located on the north bank of the Red Deer River. This foothills campground provides excellent river access for rafting and for experienced canoers and kayakers.<br>Opening date subject to snow levels.Firewood sales from service vehicle.Water is available from a hand pump at this site. This pretty little campground has well-treed sites suitable for RVs and tents. There are unserviced and power options, and a few sites right along the Little Red Deer River. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, a small campground store, and a playground. Enjoy fishing, canoeing and kayaking as well as swimming when water levels are safe. Borrow a family discovery pack full of activities and supplies to use while exploring the park.
